Curious about home warranties? See how they can help with all of the appliances & systems in your home.
The home is often the largest investment for a family. It’s where your memories happen and it’s your slice of the universe. Having a home warranty can take some of the worry out of maintaining the appliances in your house.
Home warranty is a plan that will cover the cost of repairs and replacements for appliances in your home. This could come in handy if the dish washing machine in your new home decides to quit on you or if your fridge is suddenly on the fritz. Often times a plan will have a premium (lump sum) or monthly fee option to pay for the plan. Then, should any service be required, a smaller service fee may come into play. Essentially home warranties are used to help keep unexpected repair costs low.
When you are looking for a home warranty plan you’ll want to make sure that your provider is easy to work with — this means looking for transparency when the provider explains how the plan works. You’ll want to make sure the service agreement is clear as this outlines what is covered by the plan.
What about coverage?
The next point to consider is the actual coverage provided by the home warranty. How much is covered for a single repair? How much will the provider cover for an entire year? You will also want to keep in mind that most appliances have about a 10-year life expectancy. Routine maintenance will most likely come into play to ensure your appliances are eligible for coverage and anything that is not explicitly mentioned in the agreement most likely won’t be covered.
